🔵 How to Setup Your Own Facebook App

Step-by-step guide for TAYO Bot BYO (Bring Your Own App) — Takes 15 minutes

Create a Facebook App

Go to: https://developers.facebook.com/apps/

Click: "Create App" button (top right)

Select: "Other" (NOT "Consumer" or "Business")

App Name: Choose any name (example: "My Business Bot")

App Contact Email: Use your email

Click: "Create App"

Add Products to Your App

In your App Dashboard, click: "Add Product" (left sidebar)

Add these 2 products (click "Set Up"):

  • ✅ Messenger (for auto-reply to DMs)
  • ✅ Facebook Login (for OAuth login)

Configure Facebook Login — OAuth Redirect URL

Go to: Facebook Login → Settings (left sidebar)

Valid OAuth Redirect URIs: Add this URL:

https://tayo.fyi/bot/auth/facebook/callback

Click: "Save Changes"

Add App Domains

Go to: Settings → Basic (left sidebar, bottom)

App Domains: Add tayo.fyi

Privacy Policy URL: https://tayo.fyi/bot/privacy

Terms of Service URL: https://tayo.fyi/bot/terms

Data Deletion URL: https://tayo.fyi/bot/data-deletion

Click: "Save Changes"

Get App ID & App Secret

Go to: Settings → Basic

Copy these values (keep them SECRET!):

  • App ID: (16-digit number, shown in plain text)
  • App Secret: Click "Show" → Enter your Facebook password → Copy
⚠️ KEEP THESE SECRET! Never share your App Secret. Only paste it in TAYO Bot's "BYO App" settings page.

Add Permissions (CRITICAL!)

Go to: App Review → Permissions and Features (left sidebar)

Request these permissions (click "Request Advanced Access"):

📋 COPY THIS LIST (all permissions needed):
  • pages_messaging — Send/Receive DMs
  • pages_manage_metadata — Subscribe webhooks
  • pages_read_engagement — Read comments + messages
  • pages_show_list — List your Facebook Pages
  • public_profile — Basic profile info

For each permission:

  1. Click the permission name
  2. Click "Request Advanced Access"
  3. Fill out the "Why does your app need this permission?" form
  4. Submit for review (takes 3-5 days)

Make App Live

Go to: Settings → Basic

Toggle: "In Development" → "Live" (top of page)

Confirm: "Make App Public?" → Click "Switch Mode"

✅ Now your app is LIVE! Real users can now use it (not just app admins).

Connect Your App to TAYO Bot

Go to: https://tayo.fyi/bot/

Sign up / Login to TAYO Bot

Go to: Dashboard → "BYO App" (left sidebar)

Enter:

  • App ID: (from Step 5)
  • App Secret: (from Step 5)

Click: "Connect App"

Facebook OAuth popup will open:

  1. Login to Facebook (if not logged in)
  2. Select the Facebook Pages you want to connect
  3. Grant permissions (tick all 5 permissions)
  4. Click "Done"
✅ SUCCESS! Your Facebook App is now connected to TAYO Bot. You can connect UNLIMITED Pages!

Test It!

Go to your Facebook Page (one you connected in Step 8)

Send a message to your Page (like a customer would)

Wait 5 seconds...

TAYO Bot should reply automatically! 🎉

✅ If it replies = SUCCESS!
❌ If it doesn't reply: Check Step 6 (permissions) and Step 8 (app connection).
